The Barbaric Roar Ash of War is a potent skill in Elden Ring that transforms standard weapon playstyles into aggressive multi-hit combos. By unleashing a bestial howl, players temporarily boost their attack power while gaining access to completely unique heavy attack animations. Understanding where to obtain this skill and how to synergize it with specific character builds is essential for maximizing melee combat efficiency.

Where to Find the Barbaric Roar Ash of War

Acquiring the Barbaric Roar Ash of War requires players to journey to the northern reaches of Liurnia of the Lakes. Head towards the Ravine-Veiled Village Site of Grace located at the base of the massive cliffs leading to the Altus Plateau. From this point, venture into the northernmost section of the ravine where a Teardrop Scarab awaits.

The glowing scarab sits at the dead end of the ravine and is guarded by several Giant Bats. You can quickly eliminate the scarab using ranged attacks or mounted combat before it vanishes. Once defeated, it immediately drops the Barbaric Roar Ash of War for your inventory.

Combat Mechanics and Stat Scaling Features

When activated in battle, Barbaric Roar grants your weapon a temporary physical damage buff and enhances Strength scaling. It also applies the Heavy affinity to your armament, making it an ideal choice for strength-focused characters. The primary highlight of this skill is the total alteration of your heavy attack combo into rapid savage slashes.

Unlike standard charged attacks, the modified moveset allows players to execute relentless flurry combinations that deal heavy poise damage. The skill duration lasts for 40 seconds, giving players ample time to maintain pressure against tough enemies or invaders. Additionally, the skill provides valuable hyper armor during the attack animations to prevent interruption.

Weapon Compatibility and Build Synergies

Barbaric Roar can be equipped on almost all melee weapons, excluding daggers, thrusting swords, and whips. It performs exceptionally well on heavy weapons such as Greatswords, Greataxes, and Colossal Weapons due to their massive raw attack power. However, fast-striking armaments like Fist weapons, Claws, and Twinblades also benefit heavily from the multi-hit heavy attack string.

To maximize this skill's effectiveness, pair it with the Roar Medallion talisman to boost the damage of roar attacks. Players running status effect builds, such as Bleed or Frostbite, can rapidly apply status build-up using the altered multi-hit heavy attacks. Combining high Strength stats with heavy armor ensures you can trade hits efficiently while overpowering opponents.
